Being a mountainous province, Hoa Binh lies 70km in the northwest gateway of Ha Noi with neighboring provinces of Phu Tho, Ha Tay, Ninh Binh, Thanh Hoa, Ha Tay, Ha Nam, and Son La in the west. According to archaeologists, Hoa Binh used to be home of the ancient Vietnamese thousands of years ago. Hoa Binh's land structure is mainly forestry land (46.5%); agricultural land (15.3%) of which 5.9% is for rice cultivation, the remaining are bare hills.

The climate of this province is hot and humid. The annual average temperature varies between 22,9-250C. The terrain is mainly made up of mountains and forests with Thac Bo Cave, Hoa Tien Cave; Pu Nooc tropical primitive Forest. Speaking of Hoa Binh, we cannot help mentioning Hoa Binh Hydro-Electric Power Plant, Mai Chau valley or Kim Boi Hot Spring, which is really a restorative bowl for the visitors
