The mountainous province, Cao Bang, is situated in the northeast of Vietnam with a rather complicated terrain. Cao Bang has a temperate climate and four seasons every year: spring, summer, autumn, and winter. The average temperature in the summer is 250C to 280C (77 - 82.40F); in the winter: 160C to 170C (60.8 - 62.60F). There is sometimes snow in some regions.

Thanks to the all-year-round cool climate, Cao Bang has favorable conditions for rest and travel. Cao Bang has many famous beauty spots: Thang Hen Lake (Tra Linh), Ban Gioc Waterfall (Trung Khanh)... as well as many other historical places that are closely attached to Vietnam’s War of Resistance for the national unification and liberation. The most considerable is Pac Bo forest with high mountains and cloudy springs where the late President Ho Chi Minh used to live during the French war.

Being the residence of many different peoples, Cao Bang has a very traditional culture.

Economic potentialities: agriculture, hydro-electricity, iron.
